The famous photograph of Frederick Banting and Charles Best, photographed with ‘Majorie’. It is usually claimed that Majorie was diabetic and saved by Banting and Best through insulin injections. In reality, “dog 33”--as they refered to her--only became diabetic when Banting and Best removed her pancreas. Despite having survived the procedure, Banting and Best would shortly after ‘sacrifice’ her.
